Caio Mourão, este ano, completa 70 anos, 48 deles dedicados à criação de jóias. Em 1963, recebeu o 1º Prêmio Internacional de Joalheria na VII Bienal de São Paulo.

Em 1968, a convite de Pierre Cardin foi a Paris e com ele trabalhou como designer de jóias. Em 1970, de volta ao Rio de Janeiro, inovou com suas peças artesanais em prata, de escalas avantajadas e materiais não convencionais. Nesse momento nascia a joalheria artística no Brasil.

Sempre em busca de técnicas alternativas, Caio vem se dedicando à fundição orgânica. Pioneiro nessa técnica no Brasil, utiliza como modelo, flores, sementes, e galhos entre outros.

Caio Mourão, who will be 70 this year has spent 48 years dedicated to creating jewellery. In 1963, he was awarded the 1st International Jewellery Prize at the VII Bienal exhibition in São Paulo.

In 1968, he was invited by Pierre Cardin, with whom he worked as a designer in Paris. Upon his return to Rio de Janeiro in 1970, he innovated with larger-scale silver pieces, and novel materials. This event marked the birth of artistic jewellery in Brazil.

In constant search for alternative techniques, Caio has dedicated his efforts to organic casting. A pioneer in this procedure in Brazil, he uses flowers, seeds and twigs for his pieces.
